SAINT PETERSBURG SAILING CENTRE

Detailed Architecture of the sailing centre and hotel adjoining the Gazoprom Okhta Centre in Saint Petersburg

IDG was appointed by Gazprom to design the new Saint Petersburg Marina as part of the Ohkta Tower development. IDG was responsible for the delivery of the masterplanning, project management, landscape and architectural design. The development comprises of a new Hilton Marina hotel and a redeveloped Sailing Centre. The sailing centre is to be the home of the dragon boat sailing fleet which is sponsored and owned by Gazprom. In addition the sailing centre will be an academy for sailors as well as a function space. The site accommodates winter storage and maintenance sheds. The majority of the public realm is a working and functioning marina capable of accommodating small sailing boats and large yachts.



The entire marina development is connected by an aerial promenade to the main Gazprom Skyscraper and ground scraper.



Located at the entrance to the Finnish Gulf the development will be the first view visitor’s experience, by boat, upon arrival into St Petersburg and as such is of cultural and strategic importance to the city as an iconic monument point. The scheme has received local and regional approval and is now going through the ‘Adaption’ process.
